Throughout my entire application process, I stalked other peace corps applicant's timelines. Though no one has the same application experience, I wanted to post mine for others going through the process.
April 18, 2012 - Began application and requested recommendations.
May 19, 2012 - Graduated college with a BSW
May 30, 2012 - Submitted completed application with recommendations.
June 5, 2012 - Received information packet which included fingerprint cards and toolkit login information.
June 13, 2012 - Submitted completed fingerprint cards, National Agency Check form, and official transcript by mail.
June 14, 2012 - Received call from recruiter, and submitted skill addenda and reference verification documents.
June 29, 2012 - Recruiter called to schedule an interview.
July 12, 2012 - Completed interview. Recruiter recommended brushing up on french skills.
August 15, 2012 - PC updated application process and I received notification of health history form to complete.
September 4, 2012 - Began job as a medical social worker
October 9, 2012 - Completed Health History Form
October 11, 2012 - Official nomination to the Peace Corps for September 2013. Received request for medical form.
December 1, 2012 - Failed to send medical document and status became inactive.
February 20, 2013 - Turned in medical document, and notified medical office of broken foot. Application activated and received new medical document.
March 20, 2013 - Turned in medical document, application activated and under review.
March 25, 2013 - Received and submitted personal statements regarding medical forms.
March 27, 2013 - Received and submitted another personal statement.
April 4, 2013 - Received message from pre-service nurse. Obtained necessary information and returned message. Application still under pre-medical review
April 9, 2013 - Pre-medical clearance!!! About six months after nomination.
April 23, 2013 - Received email and document request from placement officer who evaluates legal and financial status of applicants. Filled out questionnaire and returned.
May 22, 2013 - Received legal clearance! File under review by health placement office.
June 1, 2013 - Attended PC sendoff party.
June 10, 2013 - Received email from health placement, "The timeframe for when you may be leaving is probably January-March of next year at this point although that could change and we do ask for flexibility." Major disappointment, more waiting . . .
June 19, 2013 - Received email from health placement and a preliminary review of my file was completed. Received 'health volunteer questionnaire.' Submitted the same day.
July 1, 2013 - Completed final suitability interview! Received informal invitation departing mid-February!
July 5, 2013 - Received invitation to Madagascar as a health advisor!!!
July 13, 2013 - Submitted updated resume and aspiration statement.
July 16, 2013 - Mailed passport and visa application.
September 4, 2013 - Dentist appointment
September 17, 2013 - Doctor appointment #1
October 25, 2013 - Doctor appointment #2
October 29, 2013 - Doctor appointment #3
November 15, 2013 - Submitted all forms for medical clearance
November 27, 2013 - Received final medical clearance
February 10, 2014 - Leave for staging!
Sorry about your delay but glad you finally got your invite.
ReplyDeleteI have been hearing a lot of stories of people scheduled for fall 2013 being pushed back to winter-spring 2014 which is a little disconcerting to me as I am scheduled to depart march 2014 and fear i will be pushed back.
